Flag Day 2023

JUNE 14 FLAG DAY CELEBRATION FOR ALL!!

Wednesday, June 14th is Flag Day in the United States.  Batavia has a special connection with Flag Day because of Dr. Bernard Cigrand, a dentist in Batavia for decades who is considered by many to be the Father of Flag Day.  Dr. Cigrand worked tirelessly to promote a day of recognition for the American Flag, and on June 14, 1916 President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed such a day throughout the United States.  Every June 14, Batavia celebrates our nation's emblem, the Stars and Stripes and pays tribute to Dr. Cigrand for all he means to our community.
